That kind of thing does actually happen though. That is the lived experience of many people. Why should it not be fair game to make a video game about a common lived experience? Especially if it's a game set in the real world modern day?

Yes, it does and yes, it is. I was more commenting on what little bit I know of the game, but I also know it is possible to present experiences and stories without needing to lean on things in the real world. They did choose to and that's fine and as has been stated/implied to the user that initially brought it up, the choices of a 5+ year old game is not indicative of a pattern of "white man bad," nor do I consider that to be the message one should take from LiS2.
