I knew this would be a GotY contender for me but I'm honestly a little surprised to see this reviewing as well as it is. DD1 was not a game for everyone and it doesn't look like this game compromised much in the way of the design choices that made the original a bit harder to approach for a general audience. I guess sanding down all the jank was enough for people! A lot of the reviewers were fans of the original in the first place, too.
