Topic	Is Kefka a well written character?

They never give a good explanation for why he was given so much power, or why he was so close to Emperor Gestahl. He was clearly a loose cannon, and wasn't particularly great at his job, but everyone was forced to tolerate him anyway. You'd typically expect this to mean he was secretly the Emperor's son (or illegitimate son), but as far as I know he was just some random ass dude. Even if he was the prototype for Magitek knights, it doesn't make a whole lot of sense to keep him around.
