Once you grow up, you realize how weird fitness centers & recreation centers are as a child. Because at the one I went to the most when I was young, they didn't let people use the child ones because those were reserved for events for schools & such. So if you went with your parents or they didn't let you use those, you had to go into the male/female sections.

Having young kids in a rec center locker room with old men 60+ with their junk hanging out is weird, people had no decorum in that rec center, even if I was with a parent while in there. sometimes this happens in gyms too which is why a lot of them have very strict dress code or behavior guidelines now.

If I had a kid, I would always go into the bathroom with them until they're around 14/15, but younger than that it's better for them to always be accompanied by an adult.

Because yes it was fucking weird being like 10 years old at a school function, the adults leading the trip tell us to go into our respective locker rooms, then there's just old dudes letting their shit hang out in there while kids that are strangers are passing through to get to the indoor pool/lap zone

Do you have a reason other than just "I was personally uncomfortable"
