Around launch Sony was trying to further differentiate themselves from Microsoft and one of their claims was that they had a special proprietary variant of an SSD that had I/O speeds significantly faster than the SSD in the series x. They were going hard on promising a future where load screens were completely abolished, which is in retrospect hilarious because pretty much every game I play on the PS5 has some kind of load screen.
