Probably an atmospheric black metal song. It's like the most beautifully depressing sounding genre lol, though it is by design.

In a different metal genre, an artist called Ihsahn has some dark, often beautifully sad lyrics, one of my favorites is the chorus from Twin Black Angels.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PD2UcOkr-ec

What would it be, how would it feel
If the ideals of self were real?
Is it a cure, or is it disease?
Would I know emptiness from peace?
Tracing the fears back to the start
Raptures to tear the world apart
Written in scars that never heal
This is the deal
This is the deal

Sleep Token is also a master of evoking emotions.

My example for them is a little different because while they do write some beautifully sad lyrics (the creator of the project based it around a messy divorce he was going through), my actual selection is based off a comment I read on YT for the song Levitate.

The chorus goes:

Will you levitate
Up where the angels inhabit?
Will you levitate
Where I won't reach you?

And the reason that is so sad to me is because there was a comment from a father who played the song as his young son's funeral and says he can't listen to the song anymore without crying. As anti-religious as I am (the lyrics clearly describe such), I still have a heart and after reading that comment I honestly can't even think about the song without thinking about that comment.

I've been searching for the YT video that had the comment, I can't seem to find it and I know I didn't make it up, so not sure what to say. Don't know if he deleted it or if YT removed it cause it dealt with death of a child or something. However the song has a sad enough feel in its own right.

Oh man, almost forgot about Zeal & Ardor.

They have a song called Stranger Fruit (also the name of their second album) which talks about the subject, however I think the saddest song on that album is the final track which is not only sad instrumentally, but also lyrically because it's about accepting that we are bound to die alone. The song is Built On Ashes

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=reUg8U5o20k

Like a strange fruit, that's out of season
Oh, you are bound to die alone
You will swing free on the breeze then
Oh, you are bound to die alone
(You are bound to die alone)
At the end of the day with the lights out
Oh, you are bound to die alone
(Oh)

At the end of it all, there is no doubt
Oh, that you are bound to die alone
(We are bound to die alone)

Don't, darling, die on me now
(Don't, darling, die on me now)
We'll dig this grave close to your home
(We'll dig a grave close to your home)
Don't you fix your eyes on me now
(Don't you fix your eyes on me now)
We never said you'd come back home
(We never said you'd come back home)

They're coming closer just to kill us
Don't cry, don't cry on me now
No, they ain't ever gonna help us
Close to his grave we'll build our home
They're coming closer just to kill us
Don't you fix your eyes on me now
You know they're never gon' help us
We never said you'd come back home

Another from them on the same album is called You Ain't Coming Back. Powerfully sad instrumentation with lyrics about saying your final farewells cause "you ain't coming back"

All these days gonna pass like a grass fire
Don't let anybody tell you that you're safe
One of these days I'ma head for the last mile
So don't let anybody tell you that you're safe

These are the eyes that saw them die
These are the hands that dug their graves
So don't let anybody tell you that you're safe
So don't let anybody tell you that you're safe

You gotta let go, let go, let (tell your father you ain't coming back)
You gotta let go, let go, child (tell your mother that you're gonna die)
You gotta let go, let go, let (and let them know you're gonna be awhile)
You gotta let go, let go

Tell your father you ain't coming back (let go, let go, let go now)
Look at your home for the last time (let go, let go, let)
Tell your brother that you're gonna die (let go, let go, let go now)
And let them know you're gonna be awhile (let go, let go, let)

Tell your father you ain't coming back
Look at your home for the last time
Tell your brother that you're gonna die
But don't let anybody tell you that you're safe

If I'm able to these are the 2 songs I'd like to be the last songs I listen to.

Guys check out this metal song metal is a real genre it's so legit guys it's technical guys please
