..you can't really believe that any major sort of shutdown would have happened after we completely failed to do that in the first two reported weeks of the outbreak, can you? (spoiler alert: covid was already here the day after someone caught it in China. that's just how international travel and asymptomatic contagious diseases work). I had the first real strain of covid in late january 2020, while the trump admin was still pretending it was just the "china virus"

but there's a reason I never tested positive until a year and a half later even though I worked right near dozens of infected people with inadequate PPE, because I had it before the tests were even available.

the unfortunate reality of our economy is that it's built on a house of cards, and if the little cogs take a week or two off to make sure they don't die of an easily preventable disease, the rich people might have to delay buying their newest house.
