I absolutely agree with the idea that are personal and private information absolutely needs to have stronger protections so it can not be used in dubious ways. It's bad that the internet has largely turned into a vehicle to harvest our information.

What the TikTok ban has failed to demonstrate is how TikTok is doing this demonstratively worse than Facebook, Google, Twitter, etc. Beyond the fact that it's Chinese-owned. If they were really concerned about our user information, they would have passed a law protecting that, not just banning a platform they didn't like.
They're doing this so they can scream about Communism for November.
