It's a convenient and lazy method but keep in mind that such user practice works by circumventing your phone's own security measure which is signature checking. It's not a good user practice. The patches themselves are open source but the target apps are closed source. Because the patch author doesn't have access to target apps' source code and has to rely on reverse engineering; the patches might introduce unwanted vulnerability as a side effect. Please use a properly written open source app if you can. Does it have a patch to have Youtube remember your resolution? That's the only reason I don't like the stock Youtube app. --- I'm here!
