On its own, it's pretty dang good, but it comparsd unfavorably to the original. There's a lot of teen drama and filler meme characters. It''s one thing to have a running joke character, but then they're seriously involved and it's so constant. You don't see the cabbage guy every dang episode, because it would get annoying if you did, right? Enter The Twins.

There's never a reason to care about pro bending, which takes up so much of season 1, and never any actual coverage of the interesting plot point of the non-bender political movement, it's just fodder to justify the villain. I am super into how Kuvira has a bit of judo in her metalbending, but then that reminds me of how Korra's mental recovery character arc was "she's struggling to rebuild as a person-- oh oops you were actually still a bit poisoned, that's fixed now, nevermind the other part"

And it might be less narrative criticism and a personal point, but taking the mystery out of the spirit world was a horrible idea. They end up discussing and treating it like the subway.
