When you first start you choose who you start with and two companions. You'll see the other 3 characters as you progress but they won't join you. The game basically has 3 different routes depending on 2 of your party members. Hawkeye and Riesz Duran and Angela Kevin and Charlotte Every character has a starting job class role, like Hawkeye is a Thief. But as you progress you can upgrade their class down various paths which teach different skills.
