No way. His joke of

"Here's a picture of me when I was younger"
I think I saw Hedberg tell that one in his set for a comedy festival. He said something that's true and delivered it flat. When you do that there's a big risk that it also will land flat, leaving the audience to wait silently for the joke not realizing *that was it.* If fans are already in the audience, then they'll probably laugh, and others might laugh because of that, but not because of the joke that was told.

Like I said, delivering material flat and getting a laugh from it is tough to do.

Carlin was funny as hell in his younger days. His stuff as an old man was rather subpar.

Listen to late Carlin, he got applause not laughs. He was more a spoken word artist.
I appreciate Carlin on many levels. You have to go way back to see how creative he had to be to stay funny without getting "cancelled." When he took his career off-network for his own live audiences, he had more freedom, but that didn't mean he could say or do everything that he wanted to.

I know a couple who went to see him live after his last HBO comedy special, "It's Bad for Ya," in 2008. Carlin was in very poor health, but he still "went out swinging" in his last special and his final shows. He used his wit to cut through the crap and say something memorable and meaningful. He also kept doing it long after most other people would have given up.

The Hedberg and Carlin hate is making me regret this topic
It's important to recognize that both facts and opinions add to a conversation, but also to accept that each has different limitations in what they can meaningfully add to it.
