As far as the ones I played (and in my opinion)...

  • Mega Man > Mega Man 2
  • Mega Man 10 > Mega Man 11
  • Super Smash Bros Brawl > Super Smash Bros for Nintendo 3DS/Wii U (As important single player content is to me, I'd give those up in the latter games if it meant getting better gameplay and plenty of fun customization options).
  • Metroid II: Return of Samus > Super Metroid
  • Atelier Sophie: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Book > Atelier Sophie 2: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Dream
  • Dragon Ball Xenoverse > Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2
  • Bobobo-Bo Bo-Bobo: Ougi 87.5 Bakuretsu Hanage Shinken > Bobobo-Bo Bo-Bobo: Majide!!? Shinken Shoubu
  • Bobobo-Bo Bo-Bobo: Majide!!? Shinken Shoubu > Bobobo-Bo Bo-Bobo: 9 Kiwame Senshi Gyagu Yuugou
