I have only seen one restaurant ever banned tipping but that pretty much became an experiment as the ban was lifted after like 6 months. Such a shame too since that's probably the only real way to get the system to change. Legislation would be the most straightforward way, but I doubt it will happen in my lifetime. I believe the only way to change the system would be to have restaurants that ban the practice and capable of giving their staff living wages thrive and such.
