When I was a senior, one of my classmates kept bragging about how much sex he was having. And that he could tell who had lost their virginity because it "changes" people, so people that have had sex can just tell.

Of course, now I realize he was full of shit lol.

Because when it's new, it's novel - it's a status thing more than a connection thing. We don't appreciate it as something deeper than conquest. Sadly, there are a lot of people who don't let themselves mature out of that mindset, because intimacy means being known, and that terrifies a lot of folk.

But that cynical view of sex is only one, and certainly not one that properly represents the qualities sex is capable of.
