TopicBeing fat with a little muscle gives out the illusion of brawniness

Anecdotally speaking, when I was 270 lbs, 3 years ago, a lot of people (gym bros and middle age men) used to give me head nods as a sign of acknowledgement whenever I would walk by in public. It was weird in the sense that I looked sort of brawny like a D-line backer when I had my shirt on, but without it you could tell I had very little muscle definition. The fat on my body gave out the illusion that I was muscular. You could even argue that it was a confidence move to get validation from random gym bros.

Now that I'm actually working out and losing weight (down to 230), what appeared to look like massive back and shoulder muscles, have shriveled up taking away the illusion of me having any sign of muscularity. Now I don't get any head nods when I'm out shopping for groceries. I felt like people were intimidated of me before; now I get the feeling that I'm being sized down by the same people that once gave me head nods. People don't give me the same respect anymore. I need to get fat again.

I miss being fat.
