It's not really exclusive to the left. It's something that is overall encouraged by social media as it drives engagement.

Yes the left do it. Hogwarts Legacy was another attempt it at. Likewise conservatives do it for people they think are 'woke' or whatever. Just look at the pure shit they throw at celebrities like Brie Larson or Rachel Zegler. Or how these social media warriors attacked each other over Vic Mignogna's court cases.

Sad thing is it isn't even restricted to politics. The majority of Taylor Swift's fanbase are chill and nice. But on social media there are still a vocal minority of people who go around and look for critics to attack. This goes for almost any celerity with a following. If someone like Ricky Gervais dunks on someone then all his followers dogpile as well.

Even video games has this shit with console and video game fanboys still at it. Star Wars is another example that constantly draws this culture war shit.

I don't really know what the solution is. It's a systemic part of social media at this point that has completely pervaded almost all types of discourse. A part of me wonders if young people enjoy stuff like TikTok so much because they have an easier time just getting positive viral video clips and not just dramatic hot takes.
