I'm gonna bring this discussion back to where we started

we were talking about how always online DRM will potentially be bad for customers, especially people with bad internet. you can kind of see this with Steam but there's ways to alleviate that there, so they don't catch too much flak. then we settled into how long it takes the 360 to boot up and whether it's worth it. but that seems like an aside to the discussion.

if you're happy with your 51 seconds to get into Castle Crashers, or if joyrock would be happy with the 3-4 minutes it takes me to get to a menu screen in my favorite fighting game, great. you can buy the next gen of consoles I guess, and presumably it won't bother you. but it does bother me that what used to take about 30 seconds on PS2 takes 3-4 minutes on 360, and it seems reasonable to believe that always online consoles will not improve the situation.

it will definitely factor into what console I buy (if any) next gen. just one piece of the decision, but part of it for sure. I suspect that's true for a fair amount of people.
