I feel like Mother 3 would do a lot better than EarthBound Beginnings if it had come out. The EarthBound Wii U rerelease was oddly successful. However, it would also cost more as they would be localising from scratch while EarthBound Beginnings was not only fully translated but they printed cartridges. Reggie straight up said that if the Wii U had done better and stuck around they would have brought over Mother 3. However the Switch replaced it, didnt have GBA emulation for years and is now nearing the end of its life.

I feel like, eventually, the game will release outside of Japan. The market for it is much better now than it was in 2006. However who knows how many years it will take. It also might not be original Mother 3 but a full remake maybe.
