I have seen low bridges where dere is a bar da same height across da road a few hundred feet before said bridge, so dat if a truck hits it, da driver knows he wont fit under da bridge. The bridge was raised after some time, but in order to lower the road they'd need to rebuild all of the subterranean plumbing.
