That really irritated me, as I was on holidays to my hometown, and was forced to be stuck at my aunts house, not able to visit relatives. Mom paid for a plane ticket home, only for me to find out that night that I was off for the next week..... I was livid. That's terrible man. Went through several of those situations when I was first coming up in IT.
