I'm curious, how does that compare to typical single player games? I've stopped playing it because... I beat the game. Now, I'm not really interested in a new game+ run because the game was only "okay," but even if it was better I'd still probably be taking a break from it before coming back for that a little ways down the road.

This is exactly what I am wondering too. I really enjoyed Starfield, but I understand why many dont. And I am finished with it so I dont really care. But..wouldnt the vast majority of single player focused games be expected to have their numbers crater after 4-6 months? Isnt that why so many great studios are making these ill-advised live service games-to keep people hooked on games instead of playing an SP campaign and being done?

I think there are a lot of legit criticisms about Starfield (and particularly the marketing of Starfield) out there but: Single player game loses large chunk of player base after passage of time like almost every other single player game seems like a pretty vapid one.

I guess it is valid because Bethesda was probably hoping this game would be the next Skyrim. But almost no SP game has that kind of longevity no matter how good it is, and I certainly was not expecting that for Starfield.
