Gamepass definitly helped of course. But don't you think the fact you didn't know who he was(and I didn't either) helped contribute to the visibility of the franchise? Of course gamepass helped and I think the game won awards, but if it was not for smash, I am not sure I would have known what Fire Emblem or Persona was.

Also do they count gamepass players as sales?
Honestly, I doubt it was significant. I definitely knew who Joker was before he was put in Smash since Persona 5 seemed pretty popular, plus I had already purchased and played it before he was even announced for Smash. I mean it started on PS3 (Japan only) and had a port on PS4 and PS5. I think Persona 5 was just a breakthrough for the series that put it on a lot of people's radar in general. It's the first Persona I played.
