Firstly, let me say that the death penalty should be abolished. Full stop.

That being said, lethal injection's error rate is insanely high compared to other methods of capital punishment. Even if supplies were readily available, it should be done away with for that reason alone. Not to mention that the most common cocktail was invented with zero research and there's a good reason to believe that sedated convicts went through hell during their injections while having no way of letting others know that. Oh, and every medical institution is fiercely opposed to this method, so actual trained medical professionals and especially anesthesiologists cannot be involved, leaving the injections, sedations, and killings in the hands of poorly trained nobodies.

As for a potential successor, the chair isn't much better, and the firing squad puts too much pressure on the shooters and opens the door for inconsistent results.

Fuck, guillotine might be the most humane way to kill someone and even that might leave your brain alive for a bit.

Just abolish the damn thing entirely.
