While true, games were harder back then in general.
The developers started with a "make it harder so people will pay more coins in the arcade" mentality which evolved into a "make it harder to prevent people from completing the game in one rental" one.

Step grandad made a deal with my brother and I that he'd buy us a new game when we beat the last one. Short lived deal. We where beating games in one day

Thank God he wasn't getting us stuff like mega man or castlevania. Or God forbid ninja Gaiden contra etc.

I do feel like a idiot though. There was this game called Garfield caught in the act. I could never get by the stage 1 boss.

Finally got to play it again a few weeks back. Beat that boss and said I'm done I avenged my childhood lol.
