I finished listening to the rest of the tracks over Thanksgiving, but I totally didn't lose my notes or anything and totally didn't forget to post in here. Haha why would I do something so SILLY??? Thanks for keeping the topic alive or else I would have forgot for realsies. Here we are, the homestretch, the final songs:

I had no idea what to expect from You Want it Darker going in. With much respect to the man, but Cohen's vocal style can be hit or miss to me. .... And holy fuck he is way more gravelly than the music of his I am familiar with. I think this was one of his last songs? So that makes sense. And I ........ kinda like this better than the usual? Just leaning full into that sound and edge. Despite my gripes, as always, the lyrics themselves are pretty top notch. He was a great poet, that's for sure.

Wildflowers (Exhale Efreet) is an interesting one. The vocal effects make me feel like I'm stoned out of my mind, or in a dreaming state, or something in-between ....but then its just a bit grounding with some more recognisable vocal work - I swear when she's singing actual words she reminds me of an indie artist I've listened to before and no it isn't Made in Heights. Aaaand then back to the spacey stuff. Really neat. If the rest of this album is as good as this song, consider me another convert.

I was slightly put off by the length of Make Me Wanna Holler, but I'm glad I pulled through. I'm obsessed with the groove of this track, that sexy percussion and rhodes. Dark, sad, but also so, so smooth and groovy? Talk about an interesting combination. I think it could do with being a little bit shorter, but maybe I'm just not in the mood for depression in my music. Still good, will return to it again in the future.

Well, isn't If You Go Down (I'm Goin' Down Too) surprisingly delightful! Country is a tough sell to me. Some of my favourite songs are definitely in this realm, but more often than not it ain't my cup of tea, but this one was an absolute blast. There's a lot of fun wordplay, a dash of deviousness, and a truly toe tapping melody. I consider myself a fan, and if the rest of the album holds this consistency, I will have to check it out one of these days.

This choice of song as your favourite on the album is unsurprising. It really does sound like it could be from a classic video game - sans the spooky laughs! - and we'd be none the wiser. A sci-fi game, perhaps? On the Run is another brick in the wall (I know we aren't talking about the Wall here, but c'mon you know I always tell the shittiest of jokes!) that is a damn good album. This isn't my favourite PF album, but I understand why it would be someone else's favourite. Because it really is a good solid piece of entertainment.

All in all a very fun venture, so thanks for doing this! I really wish I had the free time to check out all these albums immediately, but I'll be sure to do so when I can. There's definitely differences, and I wished certain albums placed higher, but wow, couldn't ask for a better winner.
