He was floundering in the mid card when he left WWE, then he was really hot in AEW for a little bit but then ultimately he started floundering in the mid card again in AEW. His dumb idea to never challenge for the belt probably didn't help but I remember Cody getting booed as a face in AEW toward the end of his run there. But then he came back to WWE and now he's the top face in the company? Where did all of the excitement for Cody come from? I'm assuming it's because he left, started a legitimate competitor to WWE, came back as the ultimate turncoat, and shortly after his return, had that major pec injury, but still managed to put on a five-star match against Seth Rollins. --- Touch fuzzy.
