Final time: 3:45 Sometimes you make a plan and stick to it, and sometimes you just do something else entirely because you feel like it. As a big Sonic fan, I've been meaning to play this one for awhile. It didn't really hit for me though. I like the aesthetic a lot and there was definitely potential here, but I think playing it right after Super Mario Wonder really made it's flaws stick out, most of which can be attributed to age. The controls can be a bit uncooperative as the diagonals don't register right all the time, or you get a diagonal grab when you're trying for straight up, forward, or backward. Enemy hit boxes can be janky and sometimes attacks come from off screen that are nearly impossible to react to. I feel like some of the boss fights are poorly designed as well. Mostly it comes down to just not being as polished mechanically as you would like. This game probably slapped in 1995 but doesn't quite hold up as well as something like Sonic 2. It's better than most of the NES games though, so that's something!
