Like I said in my edit, which likely came after you began to type this, they do... Kinda give the character closure. They imply the D'Arcys started to take care of him, and then they imply he just... Ran away from the D'Arcys. And the reason this works so well is that you pretty much never see what the D'Arcys are up to outside of when they interact with Al. Honestly, MWC just did it... So well. For as much as I have watched that show I don't really recall those details with the D'Arcys but makes sense. To be fair in rerruns I have never even seen the episodes where Seven was involved in.
