"England" IS NOT a synonym for the country of The United Kingdom Of Great Britain And Northern Ireland. England is just one of four countries in The United Kingdom Of Great Britain And Northern Ireland. Saying "England" to refer to The United Kingdom Of Great Britain And Northern Ireland is like me saying "Mexico" or Canada to refer to the three main countries in North America.
