If you have a well, you're probably going to want a good filtration system. You'll also want to test for hard water, you'll probably need a water softener. And you'll want to have it tested occasionally for contaminants such as lead, mercury, nitrates, bacteria, etc. Ours has a ton of sediment, so we have a spin-down filter that catches most of the chunks & can be flushed by opening a drain valve, then a 5 micron filter built into the water softener, followed by a carbon filter as our nitrates are just barely below the EPA maximum. You should also make sure there's a cap on the well, an open well is just begging for bugs and mice to fall in and contaminate the water supply.

We also have a septic system and I use a septic treatment with live microbes once a month. We've had the tank pumped once in 30 years and they said it was the cleanest they've ever seen. Just be careful about what you pour down the drain. No oils, fats, or grease, they can clog the leech field, avoid too much bleach as it will kill the septic bacteria, and nothing that won't break down (condoms, tampons, wrappers, etc).
