So, why is it disrespectful to call them by name? I haven't seen any good reasons so far. It's likely just the preference of individuals.

to some people first names are a sign of familiarity and ironically not to be used lightly, especially around elders and or authority figures

So if you're from that kind of place like say, parts of the American south or Korea, you would be conditioned not to use the given names of your parents because parents deserve the respectful mom/mother and dad/father and first names are used for peers. like how teachers expect to be called Mr or Ms/Mrs XYZ or Japanese people don't use the first names of people without a relationship built.
