Maman
Man
Mom

The link shows you how I pronounce them. The first two are French and have to be pronounced as such, but the third one is borrowed from English. "An" is a vowel sound not present in the English language. English is quite limited when it comes to phonetics. Most English word pronunciations can be replicated in French, but not the other way around. For example, the English pronunciation of "man" is the same as pronouncing "mane" in French. "Mane" isn't a word by itself in the French language, but is nonetheless found at the end of many words like "kleptomane" and "pyromane". Notice that the "e" at the end is omitted in English. The former is pronounced the same as in English, but the latter pronounces the first syllable as "pee" instead of "pie".
