The original Gladiator movie was this nice combination of historical fiction and fun action spectacular. Just let it go, you'll never recapture the magic of that moment by making a movie that has the same unique feel while making sure the audience is constantly reminded "Remember the thing from the first movie, we did the thing, see?"
