The original Gladiator movie was this nice combination of historical fiction and fun action spectacular. Just let it go, you'll never recapture the magic of that moment by making a movie that has the same unique feel while making sure the audience is constantly reminded "Remember the thing from the first movie, we did the thing, see?" Which is basically what all these way-after the fact sequels try to do. --- If what you believe is truthful and just, you shouldn't have to posture as someone or something else. ...
