TopicHas Facebook been extra "spammy" lately for anyone else?

I check Facebook like twice a year and mostly still have it out of inertia. I have it linked to an email address I specifically use for sign ups that generate a lot of spam emails, so I can in turn just ignore all of it.
A few days ago on my main, actual email address that I use for professional contacts, resume, etc... I got a suspicious email sending me a "Facebook recovery code" I never asked for. Hell, it's been like over half a year since I went there. It was from [email protected] and wanted me to click a link to "let us know" if I didn't request a recovery code. It looked like a phishing attempt, honestly.
Looking into it, apparently this is a legit facebook email account, so I clicked it to let them know I didn't request it.
Ever since then, all the stupid "person on your friends list posted an update!" emails that used to go to the spam email address I had my FB account connected to are popping up in my real email inbox.
I wasn't even sure if I ever gave FB my real email (maybe I did, fuck if I know?) so I tried going on FB to check and... my password didn't work. I clicked "forgot password" and it pops up:

Youre Temporarily Blocked

It looks like you were misusing this feature by going too fast. Youve been temporarily blocked from using it.
If you think this doesn't go against our Community Standards let us know.

The fuck? Other than clicking to let them know I didn't request a recovery code, this has been the sum total of all my FB activity in the past 6+ months. Was I hacked or something? Or is it some ploy by FB to dupe me into being more active?
