Some facts about Scooby Doo On Zombie Island *may contain spoilers*

The only reason this movie was made in the first place was because the Scooby Doo property tested well in a survey with mothers.
Some screen writers wanted real monsters, because they were tired of all the fake ones, while others thought it ruined the Scooby Doo formula. The Director compromised by using both fake and real monsters.
This was supposed to be a one-off direct-to-video movie, so it had no studio interference. It sold extremely well and had great reviews, which resulted in another 36 direct-to-video movies over 24 years. It was also the darkest one, with onscreen deaths! The sequels got toned down.
The movie is based on an unfinished SWAT Kats episode.
Frank Welker, Freds voice since the beginning in 1969, was the only old voice.
Hearher North, the second and then current Daphne voice, did a day of recording before being replaced by Mary Kay Bergman.
Don Messick, Scoobys original voice, had retired in 1996 and died in 1997, and was replaced by Scott Innes.
Casey Kasem, Shaggys original voice, was supposed to return. But he had recently gone vegan and demanded that Shaggy should stop eating meat and dairy. Billy West got the role instead. Casey would later return as Shaggy.
B.J. Ward had voiced Velma earlier in that Johnny Bravo episode.
It was the first Scooby Doo production that alludes to a romantic relationship between Fred and Daphne.
It is the only movie not executive produced by Hanna and Barbera prior to their deaths.
They promoted hard that this is the first time that they have met a real monster, but they had med real supernatural monsters at least 5 times before.
Fred is seen eating more than he ever did in the almost 30 years history of the series.
The name of the pirate ship is Maelstrom, a reference to the ship in Pirates of Dark Water.
There is a chance that this movie inspired The Blair Witch Project.
