Proposals to bring the building up to current codes or even to just properly repair the building's foundation have been repeatedly shouted down in favor of instead making the building look better, and even the hasty, slapdash, tape-and-gum-based patch jobs aren't happening anymore. Only the luxurious facade gets maintained, leaving the house unstable and getting worse every day. Not only am I not proud to live in such a place, I don't want to be here when it finally collapses in on itself.
