This latest episode of vinland saga really did not hit for me. It felt so fake. Like the characters just changed for no reason to allow things to work out perfectly. To see the resolve of a man that poisoned his own brother crumble because of that conversation just does not sit right with me. One of the rare times I don't like the happy ending. Even worse knowing that in real life the place he plans to escape to already had a warring culture so theres no way it could work out. If you really wanna carve out a place for people without violence, get into politics or something. By this period in history, there was nowhere to run to where war couldn't follow. It's also awfully convenient the massive laid off army didn't decide to turn to banditry or revolt. I'm also a bit sad that canute never asked "what will you do if there are no places left to run?" Like, thats ultimately the reason pacifism like this can't work.
