I don't need these tests anymore because I've actually been diagnosed. But back when I did take the Simon Baron-Cohen autism quotient (yes, Borat's cousin is an autism researcher), I got a very high score on it. which is what led to me getting in touch with a psychologist so I could be tested properly.

The tests should only be used to make someone seek a diagnosis if they score in the range and it feels genuine to the person, but if someone can't afford a diagnosis or their doctor is a complete idiot (there are stories of people being told they can't be autistic because they have empathy or are capable of masking) then you can't hold someone being self-diagnosed against them. And I'm saying this as someone who has had an official diagnosis for decades (the second I found out there were forms of autism beyond the Rainman stereotype it was obvious to me and my family that I had it).

Yes, and also just because they're women and some of these people are so behind the times that they say the girl or woman can't be autistic because she doesn't act like a stereotypical autistic male.

I saw this one lady advise other females that if they go in to be tested, they should just drop their masking completely if they can, because that's the only way they'll even come close to getting a fair assessment in a lot of these places.
