i think even narrowly even though gen 3 and 5 hard carry (especially if including sidegames during the respective gens) and sv almost makes up for the rest. gen 2 overall just beats gen 1 even while outnumbered on spinoffs mostly just since they aged better on the whole, 4 is just next level, 6 is the better 3DS era overall (more thanks to the other 3DS stuff that counted for it than on strict merit of x/y itself (and definitely not oras)) for me and 7 also just shoots itself in the foot with let's go, and 8 was a mixed bag but managed to finish stronger than gen 9's debut overall imo (solely thanks to arceus in mainline but factoring sidegames it also holds its own through snap/pmdx/unite etc)
