It was almost 8 o'clock and the kid needed the bike to get home. She scanned the bike knowing it was taken, putting her clearly in the wrong. He wasn't sitting on it to be used a half hour later or whatever, he was only taking a brief break so he didn't get hit with the higher price. She was the one who made things uncivil because she wanted to ride the shiny new bike and she was going into full Karen mode to try to achieve that end.
