what did she find? Is this jabberwocky the song? i dunno I feel like jabberwocky as a song should like be entirely out of tune -- like, lower the middle C from 440hz to 420hz, recalibrate everything accordingly, and just have fun. I want this to be a song. Tox get on this plz. I swear I'm not just rambling about this so I don't have to make my usual rhythm song spiel that I'm sure everyone else is sick of by now. Though maybe I will have to get into that rant this song is suprisingly long for rhythm. And it's got plenty of variety too, I like the tempo increases near the end a lot and just wish it was in a framework I am physically capable of enjoying. But hey, I can ride the ZOOOOOOM all the way to SURPRISE VOCALS?! did not expect that at the end lol. I guess that's what Alice found: vocals.

but I found DESPEDIA i can't believe this got in WHAT A WORLD. Having never been in a BDSM relationship thingy, all I have to go on is this song. So if BDSM does not involve a total badass with a very dark past singing to me in tongues, demanding my utter obedience while providing her own backing vocals with magic, interspersing declarations of love with promises of murder, complete with a rhythm taken straight from Hell, I will be disappoint.

one of my low-key favorite things about VGMC is getting to learn about all the new Granblue Fantasy music that's come out in the past year and while "for you" isn't my favorite (rip Zero), it is stupendous. The two singers voices just work so well together I am just blown away. I even made lyrics! Enjoy (note: basically everything except for the final chorus is sung in backwards Japanese, but I will spare you having to read that in the lyrics):

Birth precedes death
Another birth, always death
Again they well up
And countlessly meet ruin.
Again, always, ruin...

Feverishly, the cycle repeats
(Given that)
Within this twisted world
(I must not die.)
Feverishly, I run the numbers
(Hurry)
On this twisted mesh of Lost Possibilities

Tick, tock, goes the clock, as I peer
At you, marching toward ruin nigh-innumerable
Tick, tock, goes the clock, as I run them again.
But there's just no way. It doesn't add up.
Even a miracle wouldn't be enough.

Fire rages; water stills
(Dark nurtures)
Earth roars; wind ruptures
(Light falls)
Come, the door lies open. Everybody ready?
Now's the time to go forth, to overcome Providence

(Fire rages)
(Water stills)
(Earth roars)
(Wind ruptures)
(Light illumines)
(Darkness nurtures)

<first two blocks repeat>

<"Forward" Japanese starts>
Tick, tock, goes the clock, as I peer
At you, marching toward ruin despite my machinations
Tick, tock, goes the clock, as I run them again.
But there's just no way. It doesn't add up.
Even a miracle wouldn't be enough.

C'mon, pick up the pace. Time to see what lies beyond that destiny.
The sword in your hand will open the way
C'mon, hold faith in me, Lost Possibilities and all
After all, there's so much left to our journey
<"Forward" Japanese ends.>

Farewell, farewell

Hello; hajimemashite
Hello; hajimemashite

Credit music more like accredited music. yeah i just don't like most kirby music, and i just don't like credits music most of the time. But that's fine; there's tons of other stuff for me today.

hello hajimemashite, Tox. i hope you are happy on this day that features literally your music and Despedia. Bends are fun. I'm not a big fan of the panning, I think it's in part because when I'm listening intently to music some part of my brain will sort sounds into left ear and right ear to focus on separately. Obviously, panning breaks this >_> Still, a cool, understated exploration theme, but that achieves that vibe without being "'atmospheric'", which I'm using to mean it still has a strong melody.

Fun fact, the Japanese name of this is "Undersea Temple." Now, while I like to make fun of most of Squeenix's attempts to rename their entire musical back catalog, Chrono Trigger is one case where I am broadly supportive of the goals. "Wind Scene," for instance, very clearly resulted from someone misreading as . An unfortunate but understandable mistake; isn't a common word! Though it's one Mitsuda clearly liked; it's also the entire name of the Xenogears track commonly known as "emotions." I'm less certain how that came to be. Regardless! The Japanese here is super religious, the sort of thing that regularly got censored in the SNES era. Yet I think anyone who has played Chrono Trigger would agree that it being a temple makes a certain amount of sense, given the plot. Hence, one must wonder why the person who decided that "Undersea" was somehow unacceptable for (which very literally means "undersea") was nonplussed by being rendered not as temple or shrine but as "palace."

Thank you for reading my musings i hope a nonzero number of people enjoyed this post.
