Couldn't be me that marathoned the entire released series after Sky SC when I finished it (which at the time was SC, 3rd, Cold Steel 1, and Cold Steel 2 back to back). And am currently in the middle of replaying the Cold Steel games... Anyway, re: the church being the counter to Ouroboros. So interestingly, Kondo, the lead writer/head of Falcom, said in an interview a while back that he specifically wanted the church in the Trails games to be unambiguously a force for good. It might have a few bad apples here and there across the series (including Weissman himself), but for the most part its one of the "Big Goods".
