I do remember it losing to a fresh snivy somehow after winning a pokemon league or something similar as the most ridiculous poor power scaling from the series. I just hoped that this reboot would do things differently and it had looked like it was. I had no real complaints with the bad guys or the pokemon in the first 4 episodes. Sprigatito fought that same rhydon and couldn't even tickle it with leafage so the main character had to run. That was great to see it. Meanwhile the stronger trainers pokemon were powerful enough to be causing significant collateral damage. It was awesome.
