Do you guys just not understand how roguelites work then? There's no other genre in which losing progress (by which I don't mean losing the whole save entirely) also means losing everything you have, even things you still had BEFORE you saved.

You equip yourself and start a dungeon run in an RPG and lose progress, you just go back to before you started the run, with all the equipment you had at the time. Sucks, but all you really lost is the time spent or items gained in the dungeon.

You equip yourself start a run in a roguelite and lose progress, you're sent back to base - except without ANY of the equipment you had on you. You've got to get yourself some brand new equipment and anything else you were carrying, because that's all gone.
