So ending in Gold (no matter the number) will have you start in Silver 5. Ending in Plat -> start at Gold 5, etc. The problem is mostly at how tryharding and sweaty ranked is, and combined with the above, thus making ranking up tier an undesirable action. There is also breakpoint of gems earned every ranking season with Silver 5 -> Gold 1 as standard. Silver 5 -> Gold 1 gives 1k gems. To surpass that number, if you start at Gold 5 the next season, you have to reach at least Plat 2 (1100 gems).
