Mario is actually 10% behind Detective Pikachu on Rotten Tomatoes; 58% to 68%. Sonic is 69% (nice) so Mario is 11% behind that.

For what it's worth I think the critics are being unusually hard on it. I'm not going to claim it's "cinema" but I do think it's film that's worth giving a passing grade to. Will agree that adding a bit more meat to a sequel would be appreciated however.
