Aside from the gameplay flow arguments presented, that's the biggest reason to do the ending first rather than how it actually affects the ending. You might or might not be applying your new understanding of the Eye back to the things you saw and the slides you watched now, but that's a bit different than knowing it as you are trying to piece their history together.
