Texture mods are something that's entirely up to you. If you find a particular aspect of the game to be visually ugly, it's almost guaranteed that plenty of other people did too, and someone made their own attempt to pretty it up. Most texture mods are a marked improvement, others will make you ask 'who in their right mind thinks this looks better?!' It's all a matter of personal taste.

You can either save yourself a headache and just download a single All-in-One overhaul of your choice, or you can attempt to piecemeal individual texture mods to better suit your tastes. I'm picky as hell, so I went with the latter - it takes up more mod slots if you're playing on XB, but it's worth it to get what I want.
